Left leader’s sister-in-law attacked by East Kalabaria village Pradhan’s husband

Agartala, July 9, 2023: The husband of BJP’s East Kalabaria Pradhan and his associates brutally beat up the sister-in-law of the Belonia sub-committee secretary of Krishak Sabha. Currently, the injured person is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

On hearing the news, Krishak Sabha leader Babul Debnath and MLA Dipankar Sen along with other CPIM leaders rushed to the hospital. Left leaders strongly condemned the attack and demanded exemplary punishment against the culprits.

Reportedly, Gopi Debnath, sister-in-law of Krishak Sabha secretary Babul Debnath, was attacked and seriously injured while going home from the market on Saturday. The brutal attack on Gopi Debnath took place in the Manu’s entry in Belonia. A case was registered in the police station against the husband of East Kalabaria Gram Panchayat Pradhan Lakshan Dey and his accomplices.

Injured Gopi Debnath works as a pump operator at LSP in Chittamara Ramnagar area. After the BJP came to power in 2018, Gopi allegedly repeatedly attacked and threatened Debnath for trying to forcibly take away the job of a pump operator.

It is alleged that once the BJP leaders even locked up the LSP and threw the pump operator out of work. Later this case was raised in the high court. It is also alleged that the panchayat authorities are not allowing Gopi Debnath to work as a pump operator despite the high court verdict.

In the meantime, Gopi said that miscreants has attack him again on Saturday night to take away his work. Apart from this, there are more allegations against the accomplices including the husband of the Pradhan who also took away money from Gopi during the attack.
