Agartala, 11th April 2025: Sabroom Veterinary Hospital became the hub of activity today as it hosted the one-day Block-Based Livestock Fair 2025, an initiative under the National Livestock Mission. The event aimed to foster direct engagement between farmers and livestock, sparking enthusiasm across the sub-division.
Dakshin Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Dipak Datta inaugurated the fair accompanied by MLA Mailafru Mog, former Chairperson Shantipriya Bhowmik, Assistant Director Liton Reang, Veterinary Sergeant Trideep Debnath, and Chairman of the Agri Standing Committee Subrata Debnath. Pradhan Ranjit Singh presided over the event.
Farmers showcased a variety of animals and birds, including cows, goats, sheep, dogs, eagles, rabbits, and Indian turkeys, captivating visitors. A special fish farming competition highlighted modern cultivation methods, with participants sharing their success stories. Winners in various categories were honored, inspiring attendees.
“The potential in this sector is immense,” said one of the guests. “With proper training, care, and planning, it is possible not only to become self-reliant but also to advance the rural economy.” Sabhadipati Datta emphasized government support, stating, “Financial assistance is being provided to farmers to encourage their efforts.”
Local residents praised the fair as a platform for knowledge exchange and a way to ignite interest in livestock among the younger generation. Many expressed hope for more such events in the future, recognizing the fair as a vibrant example of progress in livestock development.
