It is reported that an elderly person along with a school girl died on the Sabroom-Agartala National Highway at Charilam under Bishalgarh police station on Thursday afternoon and evening.

As a result, the residents of Charilam and the students of Charilam School held road-blockade on the Sabroom-Agartala national highway. The school students and local residents sat on the streets with several demands, including installation of CCTV cameras on the Sabroom-Agartala National Highway in Charilam area, installation of speed breakers, traffic points, provision of drinking water in schools.

As a result of this road blockade, many vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road. Bishalgarh Police and TSR forces along with Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rahul Das, Sepahijala district’s DSP Randhir Debbarma rushed to the spot.

Later, the school authorities, including police officials, held an emergency meeting. What is to be seen now is how much the administration respects the demands of local residents and school students.
