Agartala, 11th September 2025: Two individuals allegedly attempting to steal rubber from the Debipur Ujan Laugangsom area late last night were caught red-handed by local residents and handed over to Santirbazar police. The suspects were reportedly subjected to minor physical assault before being turned in.
Sources claim both individuals are habitual drug users and committed the theft to fund their addiction. Locals allege a rise in theft and other antisocial activities across tribal areas of the subdivision, driven by substance abuse.
Residents have expressed frustration over the perceived inaction of Santirbazar police in curbing such crimes. Allegations have surfaced against OC Raju Datta, accusing him of collusion with drug peddlers and involvement in illegal gambling and cattle transport rackets.
Public trust in the local police is reportedly eroding, with growing calls for higher authorities to take action. Citizens are urging police to implement effective measures to protect youth from the spread of drugs and other illicit activities.
