Agartala, 28th July 2025:    A brewing crisis in Longtharai Valley’s education sector took an ugly turn today as residents of the Chawmanu area forcibly sealed the office of School Inspector Moses Debbarma. Their protest comes amid revelations that 60 out of 119 schools under his jurisdiction operate with just one teacher raising alarm over the quality of education and administrative accountability. The recent transfer of seven teachers including one from Saptram Para has only intensified local frustrations sparking urgent calls to reverse the orders.

According to local sources, out of the 119 schools under the jurisdiction of the Chawmanu School Inspector, 60 are currently functioning with only one teacher. The crisis deepened when seven more teachers were reportedly transferred, including one from the Saptram Para school, triggering widespread concern among parents and community leaders.

Speaking to media personnel, School Inspector Moses Debbarma clarified his stance, saying, “I am simply executing orders from higher authorities regarding the transfers. However, I do acknowledge that 60 schools under my charge are being managed by only one teacher each, which is a genuine concern.”

However, residents remain firm in their demand that the recent transfer orders be revoked. Until then, they say, the inspector’s office will remain sealed. Community representative Ratan Tripura stated, “Education is suffering. If these orders aren’t cancelled, we will not unlock the office. The administration must act immediately.”
