Agartala, 3rd November 2026 : Residents of Tuidu staged a road blockade on the Teliamura–Amarpur road on Tuesday, protesting the prolonged neglect of two vital roads in the area.
According to local sources, the road connecting Tuidu with Thali Bari, stretching several kilometres, has remained in a deplorable condition for years. Similarly, the approximately five-kilometre road from Tuidu Market to Gandaek Para has been in a severely damaged state for nearly a decade.
Despite repeated appeals to the concerned Public Works Department (PWD) authorities, residents alleged that no effective steps had been taken to repair or renovate the roads.
Frustrated by the continued negligence, a large number of villagers assembled near Tuidu Market on Tuesday and blocked the main road, demanding immediate renovation of both stretches.
The blockade brought vehicular movement to a standstill on both sides, causing considerable inconvenience to commuters and passengers.
Following the incident, the PWD Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) rushed to the spot and held discussions with the protesters. The officer reportedly provided a written assurance that maintenance work on the two roads would be initiated shortly.
Following the assurance, the agitating residents withdrew the blockade and normal vehicular movement resumed.
