Lok Sanskriti Sansad hosts cultural gala: Sudhangshu’s folk melodies, Dr. Pradip’s ghazals enthrall audience

Agartala, February 24: The Agartala Town Hall was transported into a realm of musical enchantment during a unique cultural evening yesterday organized by the Lok Sanskriti Sansad. The event featured performances by state’s Cabinet member Sudhangshu Das, ICA department’s Secretary Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Advocate Pushpita Chakraborty and Nazrul Sangeet expert Mrinal Nath Sharma.

The former Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University and Padma Shri Dr Arunadoy Saha formally inaugurated the evening. In his opening remarks, he said, “This event is a celebration of our rich cultural heritage and I am delighted to see such talented artists come together to create magic through music.”

Minister Sudhangshu Das captivated the audience with his rendition of timeless folk songs, evoking nostalgia and admiration. Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty followed with two consecutive ghazals, his soulful voice resonating with the listeners. Advocate Pushpita Chakraborty mesmerized the crowd with her devotional kirtan, while Mrinal Nath Sharma’s performance of Nazrul Sangeet left the audience spellbound.

The event also showcased the talents of Manoranjan Das from Sabroom, Md. Khalek Mia from Amarpur, Meenakshi Das from Melaghar, Vishal Deb from Kumarghat, Sagar Ghosh from Khowai, Md. Shakil Ahmed from Udaipur and Shyama Nama, Sajal Saha and Lilen Deb from Agartala. These artists performed folk music, further enriching the evening.

The instrumental accompaniment was a harmonious blend of sounds, featuring Narayan Biswas, Shubhrangshu Bhattacharjee and Rajat Kumar Nath on tabla; Sujit Das on dhol; Akash Mandal on keyboard; Dr. Kishore Bhattacharjee on pad; and Babul Debnath and Swapan Bhowmik on flute.

Adding to the charm of the evening, the Ninad-Shilpa group performed two consecutive dance performances at the beginning of the program, winning the hearts of the audience with their grace and artistry.

In a press communique, Lilen Deb, the General Secretary of the Lok Sanskriti Sansad, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are thrilled to have hosted such a memorable event. The incredible performances by all the artists have truly made this evening unforgettable.”

The cultural evening at Agartala Town Hall was indeed a different kind of event, one that brought music lovers together and left an indelible mark on their hearts.
