Agartala, 21st July 2025: A violent machete attack in Salbagan under Airport Police Station last night left four people injured including one critically.
Around 9 PM, two men Mona Debnath alias Mona Don and Khokan Das allegedly assaulted Bapan Debnath and Sandip Mukherjee with machetes. As they attempted to flee, local residents intervened, overpowered the duo and handed them over to police.
All injured persons, including the accused who were injured during the scuffle with the public were rushed to GBP Hospital. One victim remains in critical condition with deep wounds, according to medical sources.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Officer-in-Charge Abhijit Mondal confirmed that the situation is under control and a full probe is ongoing.
Local sources allege that Khokan Das has a criminal past and had previously been jailed for a machete attack on his own family members.
