Agartala, February 07, 2023: All India Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee marched through various routes of Agartala city and addressed a state-level election-campaign rally in front of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here on Tuesday.
In the ‘Padayatra’, West Bengal CM Banerjee was accompanied by AITC national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee, Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, Tripura in-charge Rajib Banerjee, Pradesh TMC president Pijush Kanti Biswas, leaders of different Frontals and candidates for the ensuing assembly polls along with good number of workers and supporters.
Addressing the open-public gathering on Tuesday afternoon, Banerjee claimed that the people of Tripura is willing to get relief from the misrule of BJP and Trinamool Congress is the lone alternative. This BJP, CPIM and Congress together failed to capture power in West Bengal and people have voted Trinamool Congress to power for the third consecutive term as they have witnessed real development.
Sharing her experience of being in Tripura politics, Banerjee said “I have worked with our Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev’s father Santosh Mohan Deb and Manoranjan Bhakta. I have visited almost all the places during my stay in Tripura. During the Leftist regime, six persons were killed in Kamalpur. Even their deadbodies were left untraceable.”
Claiming Tripura is not new for her, West Bengal CM had sent Rajib Banerjee assigning him as the in-charge with the task to frame the base of TMC in Tripura and he had been here for the last six months.
“I have sent AITC national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee in this state so that the young generation should come in the forefront and lead the way to give people respite from the hands of oppressors. But it is seen that the BJP-backed hooligans attacked the vehicles of Abhishek, MP Dola Sen, Sushmita, Rajib and others out of fear. Not only them, large number of workers were also injured. The BJP leaders instructed government hospitals not to provide treatment and TMC had hired flight for treatment at Kolkata”, she alleged.
She also slammed Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman for changing political parties after enjoying power for four years.
Taking a jibe on BJP, AITC supremo Banerjee said “Trinamool cannot be stopped by fear of arrest as it has become a giant Banyan tree.” She has asked the people for a chance today. Her plea, not for alms, but for a loan. If people fails to meet the expectations, take back the opportunity.
Finding no other alternative to exist, Congress has joined hands with CPIM in this state. People have thrown them away in West Bengal too. CPIM is the ‘B’ of Congress team.
