Agartala, 30th August 2026 : A former 10,323 teacher, identified as Dipak Das, was killed in a tragic road accident allegedly after being hit by a vehicle driven by an intoxicated Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel in Melaghar.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday in the Bardowal area of Melaghar. The TSR personnel was allegedly in an intoxicated condition when his vehicle hit Dipak Das, causing him serious injuries.Das was immediately rescued and taken to Melaghar Hospital. As his condition deteriorated and was deemed critical, doctors referred him to AGMC and GBP Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.
However, he succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital. He reportedly died near the main gate of GBP Hospital.The incident has cast a pall of grief over the Indira Nagar Colony area of Melaghar, where Das resided. His death has also caused shock among his former colleagues and members of the local community.
On Sunday, following the post-mortem examination and completion of legal formalities at GBP Hospital, the mortal remains of Dipak Das were brought back to his residence at Indira Nagar Colony.Further details regarding the accident and the action taken against the alleged intoxicated TSR personnel are awaited.
