Agartala, August 22: In a distressing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a 45-year-old man has been apprehended by authorities for the alleged rape of a seven-year-old girl.
According to reports, the incident unfolded during a local event commemorating the birthday of Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Kishore Bahadur. The event took place near the Chailengta TSR headquarters on Saturday. Details emerged that 45-year-old Amardip Chakma, also known as Gandgol, is accused of luring the young girl to his residence during the gathering. Once there, he reportedly committed the heinous act.
Tragically, it is reported that after the incident, the accused provided the child with biscuits worth Rs 10, instructing her not to disclose what had occurred. It wasn’t until the following day that the child’s physical distress became apparent to her family members. She bravely confided in her mother, revealing the harrowing ordeal she had endured.
Prompt action was taken to address the child’s well-being, as she was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention. Subsequently, the girl’s family filed a case with the local police, leading to the arrest of the accused on Tuesday. The arrest took place while the suspect was in a passenger auto, traveling from Lalcherra to Dulcherra.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused under multiple sections of the law. The local community has expressed outrage and demanded that stringent punishment be meted out to the perpetrator.
