Agartala, 17th June 2025:   In a vibrant celebration of Tripura’s horticultural excellence, the two-day Mango & Pineapple Festival began on Tuesday at Children’s Park, Agartala. The festival, an initiative of NABARD-Tripura and organized by the Voluntary Health Association of Tripura (VHAT), aims to promote locally grown fruits and support the state’s farming community.

Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma inaugurated the event and lauded the farmers for their ability to produce premium-quality mangoes and pineapples. He said the festival not only provides a platform for farmers to showcase their produce but also serves to raise public awareness about the state’s agricultural potential.

“This kind of initiative highlights the dedication and skills of our farmers. It also reflects the significant strides Tripura is making in the agricultural sector,” Debbarma stated during his address.

The minister also acknowledged the ongoing support from the state’s Agriculture and Horticulture Department in enhancing farm productivity. He noted that better crop yields and market exposure would directly translate into increased income for farmers, thereby contributing to the state’s economic growth.

Debbarma further appreciated NABARD’s sustained involvement in agricultural development and its role in strengthening rural livelihoods.

Farmers from various districts participated in the event, displaying a diverse and high-quality range of mangoes and pineapples, attracting visitors and buyers alike. The festival is expected to encourage more marketing opportunities for local produce and spotlight Tripura’s potential as a fruit-growing hub.
