Agartala, 28th March 2025: Former Tripura Chief Minister and CPI(M) Politburo member Manik Sarkar has alleged that the BJP-Tipra Motha alliance government is suffering from insecurity and is actively suppressing democracy to maintain control. Addressing an event at Agartala Town Hall on Friday, Sarkar claimed that the ruling dispensation is terrified of the opposition’s growing strength and is resorting to undemocratic tactics to silence dissent.
“The BJP and Tipra Motha government know the real outcome of the 2023 Assembly Election better than anyone. Their actions show they are afraid and isolated,” Sarkar said. He alleged that the ruling party is attempting to curb the voices of CPI(M) MLAs by orchestrating external disruptions within the assembly.
Sarkar also condemned the recent attacks on CPI(M) leaders in Agartala, calling them a desperate attempt to intimidate the opposition. “They think they can destroy democracy by such means, but these are not signs of strength. Rather, they expose their fear of losing power,” he added.
He criticized the government for failing to address key public issues such as food security, housing, education, and healthcare, asserting that discontent is growing among the people. “When a government ignores the basic needs of the people, it is only a matter of time before they are overthrown by their own supporters,” he warned.
Sarkar urged CPI(M) workers to stay focused on the present rather than waiting for the 2028 elections. “The fight is now. We must take an oath to resist the current situation so that no one can accuse us of inaction,” he said.
The CPI(M) leader also announced plans for a massive public gathering in response to the recent attacks, signaling a renewed push against the BJP-Tipra Motha administration.
