Manik Sarkar Slams Tipra Motha for Inaction and Financial Mismanagement in ADC

Agartala, 13th July 2025:  Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the Tipra Motha Party, which currently governs the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), accusing it of administrative failure, financial mismanagement, and neglect of public welfare.

Speaking at a remembrance meeting for CPI(M) leader Badal Shil, who was allegedly murdered in Tripura’s Belonia sub-division, Sarkar alleged that the TTAADC under Tipra Motha’s leadership is grappling with deep financial and food crises.

“There are no teachers in many schools — how will students get proper education?” Sarkar questioned. “Hospitals are facing an acute shortage of doctors, nurses, and health workers. Even basic medicines are unavailable, and rural hospitals are in a deplorable state. Doctors are forced to refer patients to city hospitals due to the lack of resources.”

He further alleged that ambulance services are in disarray. “There’s often no fuel in the ambulances. In some cases, drivers ask the patient’s family to pay for fuel. How can the poor survive in such a system?” he said.

Highlighting the plight of retired government employees, the former CM said, “More than 300 employees retired last year, yet they haven’t received their retirement benefits. The administration says there’s no money. Two Tipra Motha ministers are part of the state government — why aren’t they addressing this crisis?”

Sarkar claimed that the financial and food crises have worsened to such an extent that “people in TTAADC areas are reportedly being forced to sell their children or dying from starvation.”

He also criticized the state’s worsening unemployment situation and accused the ruling establishment of promoting “anarchic governance.”

“The current regime is attempting to hijack democracy through vote-rigging, violence, and oppression,” Sarkar said. “People must rise up, come out of their homes, and protest against this anti-people government.”
