Mashal rally: BJYM launches sharp attack on Congress, CPI(M)

Date:

Agartala, 3rd November 2026 : Stepping up its political campaign ahead of the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) elections, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) organised a massive torchlight procession across the streets of Agartala on Tuesday evening at around 6:30 PM. The rally was aimed at demonstrating the youth wing’s organisational strength while launching a sharp political attack on the Congress and the CPI(M) over what it described as attempts to spread misinformation and create unrest in the state.

Tripura’s Youth Affairs and Sports Minister and former BJYM state president Tinku Roy, who was present at the programme, accused the Congress and the Left parties of misleading people through false propaganda on various issues, including the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment controversy. He said the procession was organised to convey that the people of Tripura would reject divisive politics and attempts to disturb the state’s peaceful atmosphere.

Roy maintained that the BJP and its youth organisation stood for peace, harmony and development, with the objective of building a prosperous and progressive Tripura.

BJYM state president Arindam Deb also criticised the Congress and CPI(M), alleging that both parties were attempting to create political instability by provoking unrest. Referring to the BJP’s October 31 rally under the slogan ‘Save Democracy, End Anarchy’, he claimed that large numbers of people, particularly young activists from different districts, had participated in the programme.

Deb alleged that opposition leaders were trying to manufacture controversies out of political frustration. He also referred to recent developments in Khowai, accusing certain Congress leaders of attempting to provoke unrest.

Expressing confidence about the BJP’s prospects in the forthcoming municipal elections, Deb said the Congress and other opposition parties would struggle to secure seats in the Urban Local Bodies. He declared that BJYM workers would resist what he termed forces of anarchy and would not allow attempts to destabilise the country.

The torchlight procession formed part of the BJP’s broader mobilisation campaign, as political parties intensify their activities across Agartala and other urban areas ahead of the municipal corporation and municipal council elections.
