Agartala, 11th June 2025: Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today announced that the renovation work of the Mata Tripureshwari Temple is nearing its final stages. He added that Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has been requested to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the revamped temple complex.
Speaking to the media following the 39th Board of Directors’ meeting of the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC), Chowdhury said that multiple infrastructure projects are currently underway to give a major thrust to the state’s tourism sector.”Tripura’s tourism industry is poised for transformative growth. These projects, once completed within the next two years, are expected to significantly increase tourist inflow,” he said.
The minister emphasized that the development is being guided by the joint vision of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Saha to unlock Tripura’s tourism potential.“Several ambitious initiatives are being launched to strengthen the tourism ecosystem in the state. In today’s meeting, we discussed how to fast-track these projects to enhance revenue and employment opportunities,” Chowdhury stated.
He also mentioned that a comprehensive review of existing funds and future financial needs was taken up during the meeting.Chowdhury informed that approximately Rs 350 crore is being invested in the sector, with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and under the central government’s Swadesh Darshan scheme.
Key projects include the development of Eco-tourism and Nicco Park in Jirania, Chabimura and Sonamukhi in Unakoti, 51 Peethas at Bandowar, Ludhua Tea Garden in Sabroom, Eco-tourism in Mohanpur, Kasba Kalibari and the Fourteen Gods Temple, Eco-tourism around BrahmakundaThe minister reiterated the department’s commitment to ensuring smooth and sustained growth of the tourism industry in Tripura.The meeting also began on a celebratory note, as the minister felicitated Aritra Roy — the first mountaineer from Tripura to summit Mount Everest. A cheque of Rs 50,000 was handed over to her on behalf of the Tourism Department.
