Agartala, 6th January 2025 : In an effort to address the growing issue of clogged drains and water accumulation, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumdar visited the Kali Tila area today. During his visit, he urged the public to refrain from throwing garbage, especially plastic carry bags, into drains, which are causing blockages and the stagnation of water.
Accompanied by officials, including Bapi Das, Corporator of Ward No. 37, and MIC member, the Mayor inspected areas where roads and drains had collapsed. He instructed the engineers on-site to take immediate action and resolve the issues.
Speaking to journalists, Mayor Majumdar emphasized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining a clean and healthy environment. He warned that throwing waste into the drains not only leads to blockages but also results in the breeding of mosquitoes, creating further health hazards for the community.
Notable social worker Tapas Bhattacharya was present during the Mayor’s visit and supported the initiative. The Mayor reiterated his commitment to solving civic problems, adding that he would continue to monitor areas where issues arise and ensure that swift action is taken.
This appeal comes as part of the Agartala Municipal Corporation’s ongoing efforts to improve the city’s sanitation and infrastructure for a healthier and cleaner environment.
