Agartala, 17th July 2024:  Mayor Dipak Majumder and Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav conducted an inspection of Durga Chowmuhani Bipani Bitan in Ward No. 14 of Agartala Municipal Corporation. They were accompanied by the local corporator.

During the visit, Mayor Majumder highlighted that several shops in the market are currently closed, with many shop owners delinquent on rent payments. He announced that these shop owners will receive notices demanding payment of overdue rent within seven days. Failure to comply will result in the shops being reallocated to new tenants.

Additionally, the mayor addressed the issue of illegal occupation by trade unions, stating that these spaces will be vacated. He also noted the problem of unauthorized vehicle parking in front of the market and mentioned that the traffic department has been instructed to take necessary action.

Concerns were raised about anti-social activities occurring at the market’s cycle stand at night. Mayor Majumder called on local residents to help curb these activities. Furthermore, he assured that new roads will be constructed around the Bipani Bithan to improve access and infrastructure.

“We are committed to revitalizing the market and ensuring it serves the community effectively,” Mayor Majumder stated.
