Agartala, 29th December 2024:  The city of Agartala, designated as a Smart City is witnessing a surge in unauthorized advertisement banners prompting a stern warning from Mayor Dipak Majumdar. The Mayor emphasized that urgent action will be taken against those placing advertisements without informing the Municipal Corporation.

The Municipal Corporation has undertaken various initiatives to beautify Agartala under the Smart City project. However, some legal and illegal companies have been undermining these efforts by putting up banners without the necessary permissions. This has led to concerns about the city’s aesthetic appeal being compromised.

Recently, an advertisement by a cement company was displayed across the city and the entire state without the Corporation’s approval. Consequently, the Municipal Corporation imposed a fine of Rs 4.50 lakh on the company. Despite this, the practice of unauthorized banner placement continues, with new banners appearing in different locations.

Mayor Dipak Majumdar stated, “I have personally noticed such advertisements. Urgent action will be taken against those who are putting up these banners without informing the Municipal Corporation.” He added that individuals responsible for these unauthorized advertisements would be identified through CCTV cameras, and appropriate measures would be taken against them.

The Mayor’s warning highlighted the importance of adhering to regulations and maintaining the city’s visual integrity as part of the Smart City initiative. The Municipal Corporation remains committed to ensuring that Agartala’s beautification efforts are not hindered by unauthorized activities.
