Mayor visits Dashami Ghat to inspect preparedness for Carnival

Agartala, October 17, 2023:  With just four days remaining for the much-awaited Durga Puja festivities, Agartala is abuzz with preparations to welcome the auspicious occasion.

The festivities are scheduled to kick off on October 21. The state government has also organized a vibrant carnival slated for October 26, promising a kaleidoscope of colors and cultural extravagance.

In a bid to ensure the seamless and disciplined immersion of idols in the Dasami Ghat area, Agartala Municipal Corporation has launched a special drive to beautify the locale.

Mayor Dipak Majumdar personally inspected the preparatory work, expressing satisfaction with the progress. He noted that this year’s idols will be adorned even more splendidly than the previous year.

“The Dashmighat area, a focal point of the festivities, is being illuminated with a dazzling array of lights, transforming it into a visual spectacle. The construction of paved stairs and a specially designed ramp for the graceful lowering of statues from the riverbank, enhancing accessibility”, he said.

With all preparations reaching their final stages, Mayor Majumdar exuded confidence that the immersion of the idol will be a memorable affair, accompanied by the resonant sound of conch shells and the joyous cheers of thousands of visitors.

The Mayor was joined by local councilors and officials of the municipal corporation during his inspection, emphasizing the collective effort to ensure a resplendent celebration of Durga Puja in Agartala.
