Agartala, 21st October 2024: A crucial meeting was organized with all traders of the Market Traders Association to maintain order in Nalchar market on Monday. MLA Kishor Barman along with office bearers of the association urged the traders to maintain an orderly environment and stop the sale of intoxicants.
Speaking to reporters, MLA Barman stated, “Some unscrupulous traders keep their shops open till late night and sell intoxicants. All the unpleasant incidents and unrest in Nalchar market are only due to intoxicants.”
He emphasized the need for strict regulations, including shop closing times. “It was decided that all shops in the winter market will be open till 9 pm and during the summer season, the shops will be open till 10:30 pm,” Barman added.
Expressing his gratitude, MLA Barman said, “I thank Nalchar Bazar Samiti as well as all traders for taking this landmark decision.”
The meeting was attended by Nalchar Panchayat Samiti Chairman Swapan Kumar Das, social worker Ratan Das, Bazaar Traders Samiti Secretary Bikash Das, and President Bijoy Ghosh among others.
The meeting was prompted by a recent clash between two friends during the night, which disrupted the orderly atmosphere of the market. The presence of the MLA and the Market Traders Association aimed to restore order and ensure a peaceful environment.
