Agartala, December 21: In celebration of the 48th Foundation Day of Tripura Gramin Bank, a Mega Credit Delivery Camp took place at Sukanta Academy on Thursday. The ceremony was inaugurated by Minister Ratan Lal Nath, who illuminated the lamp to mark the commencement of the event. Distinguished attendees included Mayor Dipak Majumder of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Satyendra Singh, Chairman of Tripura Gramin Bank, and other prominent figures.
The Mega Credit Delivery Camp drew the participation of Gramin Bank employees and the general public alike. Minister Ratan Lal Nath, addressing the gathering, highlighted the noticeable economic progress witnessed under the current government compared to its predecessor. Notably, the economic upturn initiated during the financial year 2018-19 has led to substantial growth. In the financial year 2017-18, the collective bank deposits in the state amounted to Rs 24 thousand 580 crores. Presently, this figure has surged to a commendable Rs 37 thousand 432 crores across all banks in the state.
Minister Nath pointed out that this economic advancement has been accompanied by an increase in indebtedness among the population. Tripura boasts an impressive position in the North-East with regard to the Credit-Deposit (CD) ratio, surpassing several states in the region. A source of pride for the state is that, out of the 850 employees at Tripura Gramin Bank, a whopping 800 hail from Tripura itself. This demographic composition underscores the skills and capabilities of the local workforce, reinforcing Tripura’s standing in economic development.
