Mega Early Cancer Detection and NOCID Screening Camp held at Boxanagar Community Health Centre

Agartala, August 27, 2022: A mega early cancer detection camp and NOICD Screening Camp was organized at Boxanagar Community Health Centre on Saturday from 10 AM onwards. The Health fair was inaugurated by Tripura State Programme Officer Dr Arup Roy Barman in presence of Boxanagar Community Health Centre in-charge Dr Shyam Debbarma. Earlier, many Health camps were held in every block under the initiative of Health department with the slogan of ‘Susta Tripura Susta Bharat’. Organizing of such health camps aimed at providing Health services till the end of the state.

And as a part of this, a mega health camp was organized at Boxanagar Community Health Centre on Saturday under the supervision of 8 expert doctors. It was a special camp. This health camp is about raising cancer awareness. In particular, the main aim of this health camp was to raise awareness about cancer among people because the number of cancer patients has increased dramatically in the state of Tripura and this is why such health camps are organized especially at Boxanagar.

In particular, various tests including screening tests for diabetes, hypertension, blood pressure, blood stool, etc. are conducted. Later, medicines for various diseases were distributed free of cost to the patients. A total of 300 patients from various places were distributed free treatment and medicine in this health camp at Boxanagar. Eight doctors are providing health services in this health camp. The presence of patients was noticeable. Specialist doctors from Agartala also treated the patients with care and all were happy as because there is no specialist doctor in Boxanagar Community Health Centre.

There is anger in the area as there are no specialists and doctors despite having a community health centre. Medicine experts were present, starting from ophthalmologist of the health camp and various specialist doctors. Besides, Ayushman card was renewed on this day. Various tests of blood and sugar done, blood pressure was checked up, the crowd was next to the eye, ear, throat specialist doctor. Free family planning counselling was offered, among other things at the fair.

Doctor in-charge of Boxanagar Community Health Centre Dr Shyam Debbarma said that it is a noble initiative of the state government so that people can get health services. Health services in 10 sectors were offered in this fair. He said that people from all walks of life should come forward and be aware to save themselves from various diseases. He advised the ASHA workers who are under the Boxanagar Health department in particular to go from house to house to educate the people to keep their hands clean and well washed with soap to ensure good health.

In this COVID pandemic, various employees of the Health department are risking their lives to provide health to people in various ways. Thus the Health camp of Boxanagar RD Block was completed successfully.
