Agartala, 1st March 2026:  A migrant worker from Kailashahar’s Chandipur Block is facing a devastating family crisis after his wife and nine-year-old daughter mysteriously went missing. The incident has raised serious questions about alleged police inaction.

Bipul Malakar, a resident of Ward No. 6 under Samrurpar Gram Panchayat in Kailashahar, had traveled to Bengaluru in December 2025 for work to support his family financially. While staying there, he reportedly noticed that his wife, Supriya Malakar, frequently had her phone engaged for long periods. She claimed she was speaking with her mother. However, when Bipul directly contacted his mother-in-law, he learned that this claim was false. This led to tension between the couple, and Supriya eventually blocked Bipul’s number.

On January 9, Supriya left home with her younger daughter, saying she was going to her parental home in Kalain, Assam, leaving their two elder daughters behind. The family remained in contact until January 10. However, on January 14, Bipul’s mother-in-law informed him that Supriya had been missing for four days.

Questions have since emerged: If Supriya never reached her parental home, why was her disappearance reported only after four days? The delay has deepened suspicions and added to the mystery.

Bipul rushed back from Bengaluru and filed a missing diary at Kailashahar Women’s Police Station on January 22. Afterward, Supriya reportedly called him from two different phone numbers, stating that she and the child were safe and asking not to be searched for. Bipul provided these numbers to the police. However, he alleges that the police have taken no action. Even after more than a month since filing the complaint, he claims he has not received a copy of the FIR acknowledgment.

Bipul has further alleged that the police have made unethical demands instead of properly investigating the matter. Meanwhile, the two daughters left at home are reportedly distressed and constantly waiting for their mother and sister to return.

Burdened by anxiety over his missing wife and child, alleged police harassment, and financial hardship, Bipul Malakar says his life has become unbearable. The Kailashahar Women’s Police Station has faced controversy in the past as well, with higher authorities reportedly intervening in previous cases.

Concerned citizens are now questioning whether justice will be served for the family of a poor daily-wage worker. Despite having phone numbers that could potentially aid the investigation, why has there been no apparent progress?

For now, Bipul continues to wait and hope for the safe return of his wife and daughter, as attention turns to whether the district police administration will step in to ensure proper action is taken.
