Agartala, 27th May 2025: In a major push toward strengthening the agricultural landscape in Tripura, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated a state-of-the-art Agriculture Research cum Training Centre in Amarpur, Gomati district on Tuesday.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to sustainable agricultural development, Minister Nath said, “This center reaffirms our dedication to empowering farmers and fostering sustainable growth in the region. It will serve as a hub for modern agricultural knowledge and innovation.”
The newly inaugurated facility is equipped with modern infrastructure including a fully furnished training hall, internet connectivity, computer projectors, and video conferencing tools. It is designed to provide real-time technical support and updated knowledge to farmers, enabling them to adopt improved farming techniques and boost productivity.
“This initiative will allow the farmers of Amarpur to understand and implement scientific methods that enhance soil fertility and crop yield. Scientists will work directly with farmers, guiding them at every step of the cultivation process,” the Minister added during his address.
The event was attended by local MLA Ranjit Das of the 42-Amarpur Assembly Constituency, as well as senior officials from the agriculture department. Lauding the government’s initiative, MLA Das said, “This center will be instrumental in transforming the lives of farmers by bridging the gap between traditional practices and modern agriculture.”
With the center now operational, officials expect a significant improvement in agricultural productivity and farmer welfare across the region.
