Agartala, 10th March 2025 :   Marking a significant step towards agricultural entrepreneurship, Minister Ratanlal Nath today inaugurated the brand ‘Madhubaner Madhu’ at the Haflongchhara Agriculture Office premises under Dharmanagar Subdivision. This initiative has brought together 32 enterprising youth and housewives, who have launched the new honey brand with joint efforts and the support of the Agriculture Department.

Nath was accompanied by Jubarajnagar Block BDO Debapriya Das, former MLA Malina Debnath and several officials from the Agriculture Department along with other dignitaries. The gathering applauded the efforts of the new entrepreneurs and expressed optimism about the success of this initiative in boosting the region’s agro-based economy.

Addressing the event, Minister Ratanlal Nath emphasized the government’s commitment to self-reliance through entrepreneurship. “Our government’s goal is to take every person on the path of self-reliance. I sincerely thank these 32 enterprising people who have developed the ‘Madhubaner Madhu’ brand with the help of the Agriculture Department,” he said.

Highlighting the challenges in the agricultural sector, the Minister pointed out that paddy cultivation in North Tripura has been gradually decreasing, even as the demand for food in the region has doubled. “According to the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Policy, more than 50,000 farmers have already been honored in the northern district. However, due to insufficient cultivation, the potential for development in the agricultural sector is not being fully utilized,” he remarked.

In a major announcement, Minister Nath assured farmers that modern agricultural equipment, including power tillers, would be provided to those who had not yet received them. “Agricultural land cannot be left idle in any way—something or the other has to be cultivated,” he asserted. Paying tribute to the dedication of farmers, he acknowledged their relentless hard work under extreme weather conditions.

To further boost the newly launched honey brand, Minister Nath announced the establishment of a permanent sales center in Dharmanagar city. “This will enable entrepreneurs to market their honey effectively and take another step forward on the path of self-reliance,” he stated.

Recognizing the potential of honey production, he added, “There is always a demand for honey because it can be stored for a long time. I will also encourage other farmers to grow some crops and improve the agricultural sector further.”

The launch of ‘Madhubaner Madhu’ marks a new horizon for agro-based industries in North Tripura, promising increased employment opportunities and economic growth for the region.
