Agartala, 30th November 2024: ARD, Fisheries and SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das on Saturday called for India to stop providing medical services to Bangladeshi citizens, citing the recent insult to the Indian national flag in Bangladesh. His appeal has garnered support from a private hospital in Agartala, which has decided to cease medical services to Bangladeshi patients amid ongoing protests.
In a social media message, Minister Das expressed his outrage stating, “The uneducated, barbaric madrasa-style jihadis who have disrespected the national flag of my country are coming to our country and taking all kinds of services, starting from medical services.” He urged all doctors to take a stand against this inhumanity and raise their voices against the insult to the national flag.
The minister’s comments come in the wake of viral social media posts highlighting the continuous persecution of traditional religious followers in Bangladesh, the arrest of Hindu monks, and the desecration of the Indian national flag. Minister Das emphasized the need to stop providing services to those responsible for these actions.
In response to the minister’s call, a protest was held at ILS Hospital in Agartala, demanding the cessation of treatment for Bangladeshi patients. Protesters expressed their anger and vowed to extend their demands to GB Hospital in the future. “We will not accept the insulting of our country’s flag in this way,” one protester stated.
The ILS Hospital authorities have decided to stop treating Bangladeshi patients in response to public demand and in protest against the extreme attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. This decision reflects the growing sentiment among the local population to take a firm stand against the perceived injustices.
The situation continues to evolve as more institutions and individuals voice their support for Minister Das’ call to action, highlighting the deep-seated emotions surrounding the issue.
