Agartala, 12th September 2024:  In a bid to enhance the supervision of Anganwadi Centers across Tripura, the State Government has introduced a cutting-edge tool—the ‘Anganwadi Center Inspection and Monitoring App.’ Speaking with Business Northeast, Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy highlighted that the app leverages technology to ensure the effective delivery of essential services to mothers and children at over 10,000 Anganwadi Centers in the state, which serve around 4 lakh children.

Minister Roy emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to upgrade these centers, expanding their scope beyond education and nutrition to include improved infrastructure such as electricity, clean drinking water, sanitation, vegetable cultivation, and recreational activities like sports.

“The app facilitates real-time monitoring of these services,” Roy explained. “For someone to inspect an Anganwadi Center, they must be within a 50-meter radius and provide relevant details through the app. The system will automatically generate a report, capturing all necessary data about the center, which is stored for future reference.”

A standout feature of the app is its ability to upload photos, giving officials—ministers, secretaries, and other authorities—a direct view of the on-ground conditions at the centers. This enables immediate action to rectify any issues identified. The app also tracks the visits of departmental supervisors, providing data on the number of inspections conducted each month and whether target goals are being met.

Minister Roy further underscored the focus on child health at Anganwadi Centers, where growth-tracking equipment is used to measure weight and height. These efforts are bolstered by the ‘Mission Able Anganwadi’ and ‘Poshan 2.0’ initiatives. Workers at all levels are equipped with mobile phones featuring a nutrition tracker app, which records service-related information for mothers and children, allowing for high-level monitoring and accountability.

This new technological approach aims to elevate the overall efficiency of Anganwadi Centers, ensuring that the services reach those who need them most.
