Agartala, June 03, 2023: Students supporting ABVP participated in the protest on Saturday against the recent gang-rape of a minor girl in Tepania Eco-Park under Udaipur sub-division in front of the Superintendent of Police’s office in Gomati district.
The memorandum was handed over to the District Superintendent of Police. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad state secretary Sanjit Saha and others were present.
Sanjit Saha said that after the incident of gang-rape, the police is not taking any initiative to arrest the accused till now. Police can arrest them and punish severely if they want. But the passive role of the police is highly reprehensible.
They warned that if action is not taken against them immediately, they will launch a larger movement. It is to be noted that three young men allegedly gang-raped the minor girl after kidnapping her in the park. Accused Sohel Mia called the minor girl last Wednesday and asked to meet her. Accordingly, the minor girl went to Tepaniya Eco Park without telling anyone at home to visit. He went there and found three young men waiting for him.
The victim girl’s family smelled suspicion on the role of the Gomati district’s police administration.
It is alleged that when the girl tried to come home, three young men took her to a secluded place showing sharp weapons and gang-raped her. The three youths took the girl to Rajarbagh area, threw her out of the car and fled away.
