Agartala, 22nd March 2025:   Former PCC President and MLA Birajit Sinha today urged the state administration for starting the tender related works of the Flood Control department immediately.

Speaking to media personnel here, Sinha stated, “Several tenders were floated by the department recently, but many of the projects are yet to commence. I urge the administration to ensure that work begins promptly and that there is no corruption in the execution of these projects.”

He further emphasized the importance of regular inspections by departmental engineers to maintain the quality of work. “Every project must be closely monitored to ensure transparency and efficiency,” Sinha added.

Addressing recent incidents, Sinha highlighted the burning of a bike outside the Flood Control Office and the intimidation faced by contractors at work sites in the Jalai area. “Contractors must be allowed to access their work sites without fear, and all pending projects should be completed before the flood season,” he demanded.

Sinha also mentioned that residents of the Jalai area had submitted a written appeal to the Executive Engineer of the Flood Control Department, urging swift action on these matters.

Sinha reiterated, “Those awarded contracts should be provided access to their work sites immediately, and the administration must ensure the quality of ongoing projects.”

Sinha was accompanied by Gournagar Panchayat Samiti Vice Chairman and District Congress President Md. Badrujjaman, Youth Congress leader Abhijit Shil, Panchayat member Kalpana Das and Congress leader Rina Mahishya Das.
