Agartala, 3rd December 2025: Banamalipur Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy has publicly expressed dissatisfaction over the long-standing non-functional state of the water treatment plant at Prachya Bharati School.
Two years back, Roy had sanctioned a project worth nearly Rs 5 lakh to ensure safe drinking water for students. However, during a surprise inspection today, he found that despite the plant being fully constructed, it has remained idle for two years, depriving students of clean drinking water.
The MLA, visibly angered, ordered an immediate inquiry into the reasons behind the delay. He also directed the concerned authorities to take urgent steps to operationalize the facility so that students can access purified water without further delay.
The issue has sparked resentment among parents and local residents as well. They allege that despite funds being allocated, the project’s failure to start reflects sheer administrative negligence. Local members have demanded swift action to restore this essential service for the schoolchildren.
