MLA Ranjit Debbarma seeks justice for deceased college student’s family

Agartala, 2nd January 2025:  In a bid to seek justice for the grieving parents of Baijanti Debbarma, a college student who succumbed to her injuries on December 20, Tipra Motha Party MLA Ranjit Debbarma approached the Melaghar police station on Thursday. Baijanti Debbarma was seriously injured in a fight that took place in the Melaghar police station area on June 3.

Following the incident, the accused filed a false case against Baijanti Debbarma and her parents. Meanwhile, Baijanti’s family had already lodged a case against the accused at the police station. However, the police of Melaghar police station remained inactive for reasons unknown.

Accompanied by Baijanti’s father Basanta Debbarma and mother Kaushalya Debbarma, MLA Ranjit Debbarma filed a murder case against the accused Anupam Das, Arun Das, Nisha Saha, and Mayarani Das. Additionally, the MLA met with DSP Noor Bahadur Reang of Sepahijala district, demanding a thorough investigation and appropriate punishment for the accused.

Expressing his hope for justice, MLA Ranjit Debbarma stated, “We trust that the police will conduct a proper investigation and help the parents who lost their daughter get the justice they deserve.”
