MMD College, Sabroom celebrates National Youth Day

Agartala, 12th January 2026:  Sabroom Michael Madhusudhan Dutta (MMD) College today commemorated the 164th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and the 41st National Youth Day. Since 1985, every year on Swami Vivekananda’s birthday, the nation observes this special day.

This year’s theme: “Awakening Inner Power and Creating a Positive Global Impact” emphasizing the importance of making constructive influence worldwide. The event was graced by retired teacher and poet Dulal Chakraborty, faculty members and students of the college participated in the program. The proceedings were hosted by the college principal, Dr. Anupam Guha.

During his speech, Chakraborty highlighted that the primary objective of this day is to inspire youth with the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, instilling self-confidence and a sense of service to the nation. He educated students about Swamiji’s ideals and urged them to come forward to build a better society.

Professor Dr. Kamal Acharjee from the college’s Bengali Department shed light on Swami Vivekananda’s life and contributions. A brief discussion was also conducted by Sajal Nath, Joint-Secretary of the College’s Alumni Association.
