Agartala, 24th July 2025: Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura (HFT), Sabroom branch and Sabroom Michael Madhusudhan Dutta (MMD) College organized a program as part of the HFT’s month-long awareness campaign to mark the upcoming World Hepatitis Day on July 28.
The main aim was to raise awareness about hepatitis disease.This year’s theme for World Hepatitis Day is “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down,” emphasizing the importance of liver health. The event was presided over by the Dr. Anupam Guha, Principal and attended by distinguished guests including Dr. Subhashish Bhattacharya from Manubazar Health Center, Nityananda Sarkar, SDPO, Sabroom, Chandan Roy Chowdhury, members, Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura, faculty members, and students.
Dr. Bhattacharya explained that hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by viruses. It damages the liver and can lead to serious conditions like chronic liver cirrhosis. On this day, various activities aimed at raising public awareness about hepatitis were conducted as part of the month-long campaign.
The main objective of observing this day is to increase public awareness about hepatitis, promote effective preventive measures, provide accurate treatment and support to those affected, and contribute to the global effort to eliminate hepatitis. He urged everyone to take advantage of government healthcare facilities.
Dr. Guha and other attendees emphasized that despite advancements in modern technology, awareness remains lacking, and everyone is encouraged to become more conscious about hepatitis. It was also announced by Sabroom branch that the main event for this day will be held in Agartala on July 28.
