MNREGA workers blockade road, demands clearance of wages

Agartala, October 01, 2022: . MNREGA workers blocked Ambassa-Gandacherra road demanding payment of wages. It is to be noted that a group of people blocked the Ambassa-Gandacherra road on the day of the weekly market. They could have surrounded the Panchayat office, but they blocked the road on purpose.

As a result its impacted on the business community. Buyers also have to face problems. Meanwhile, the whole state will enjoy the best festival of Hindus in the night. This joy faded for the poor MNREGA workers. It was said that the dues of the MNREGA workers would be settled before the puja. But due to some unknown reasons wages were not paid. This morning hundreds of MNREGA workers sat on Ambassa Gandacherra road and blockade it in the four and a half mile area.

They demanded that the wages should be paid before the puja, otherwise the blockade will continue. Meanwhile, after several long hours, the official of Ambassa administration reached the blockade site and spoke to them and assured that the outstanding wages would be settled today, the blockade was lifted after four hours. Meanwhile, due to this blockade, daily commuters have to face problems after many cars get stuck on both sides of the road.
