Agartala, 12th April 2025: In a significant step towards modernizing agriculture and empowering farmers, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the Agri Development Resource Cum Training Center at Takarjala on Saturday. The initiative was launched by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare aims to train farmers, provide modern machinery and ensure agricultural self-sufficiency in the state.
The newly constructed pucca building will serve as a resource hub to assist local farmers with knowledge on modern farming techniques and promote scientific agricultural practices. Present at the occasion were key dignitaries including MLA Biswajit Kalai, Golaghati MLA Manav Debbarma and Chairman of Jampuijala BAC Birendra Kishore Debbarma, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath stated, “This center is a vision towards transforming traditional farming practices into modern, sustainable agriculture. Very soon, all farmers in Takarjala will receive access to automated agricultural machinery.” He further announced plans to establish a dedicated marketplace to help farmers sell their produce without intermediaries.
Emphasizing the critical role of farmers in society, Nath said passionately, “It is not God who puts food on our plates—it is the farmer. We must bow at their feet in gratitude. They are the true providers of our sustenance and deserve utmost respect.”
The Minister also underscored the importance of uplifting tribal communities. “People in tribal areas still face backwardness. We are committed to bringing them under priority services to ensure inclusive development. Only then can we truly implement the mantra of holistic development across all seven sectors,” he added.
