Agartala, 17th September 2026 : Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Thursday highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25-year journey in public life, saying his tenure has been marked by a sustained focus on public welfare and service to the people.
Speaking at a programme at Sataria village on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s birthday, Singha Roy said Modi began his journey as Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001 and took charge as Prime Minister in 2014.
According to the Finance Minister, over the past 25 years, Modi has undertaken several initiatives aimed at improving the lives of people, particularly those at the grassroots and in the last-mile sections of society.
Singha Roy highlighted initiatives related to housing, drinking water, sanitation and food security. He also referred to the distribution of free foodgrains to around 80 crore beneficiaries and recalled India’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including assistance extended to other countries during the crisis.
He said welfare programmes have covered various sections of society, including farmers, workers and beneficiaries of healthcare schemes. The minister also highlighted the Prime Minister’s virtual interactions with beneficiaries, saying Modi has directly engaged with people at the grassroots and enquired about issues concerning their families, education, housing and healthcare.
Singha Roy said programmes commemorating the Prime Minister’s 25 years in public service are being organised from the booth level to the state level.
He said the Prime Minister has preferred to observe his birthday through service-oriented activities rather than as a personal celebration, adding that various welfare and social initiatives are being undertaken across the country.
At Sataria, where a Shiva temple was established nearly two years ago, the minister joined local residents in offering prayers for the Prime Minister’s health and continued service to the nation.
Singha Roy also spoke about the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, expressing hope that the country would continue its development journey towards the goal.
He said special programmes would continue throughout the day, including the lighting of lamps at religious institutions and other prominent locations. Lamps will be lit simultaneously at 7 pm as a gesture of blessings and goodwill for the Prime Minister.
