Agartala, 7th June 2026: The Southwest Monsoon officially entered Tripura on June 7, marking the beginning of the rainy season in the state, according to the Meteorological Centre, Agartala.
Weather officials stated that the monsoon’s arrival this year was delayed by two days compared to its normal onset date. With its advance into parts of the state, conditions have become favorable for widespread rainfall in the coming days.
The development comes later than last year, when the Southwest Monsoon had reached and covered Tripura by May 26, 2025, significantly ahead of this year’s schedule.
Over the last 24 hours, several areas across the state experienced light to moderate rainfall, providing an early indication of increasing monsoon activity. The Meteorological Centre has forecast continued rainfall as the monsoon gradually strengthens its presence across Tripura.
The onset of the monsoon is expected to bring relief from the prevailing heat and play a crucial role in supporting agricultural activities, replenishing water resources, and aiding farmers during the ongoing cultivation season.
