MoS Pratima Bhoumik commends achievements at prestigious Convocation ceremonies of PDUNIPPD & NBER

Agartala, December 22:  Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik on Friday graced the inaugural convocation ceremony of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities (PDUNIPPD) under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJ&E).

Minister of State Bhoumik extended her heartfelt congratulations to the 146 students of MPO, BPO, BOT & BPO who successfully qualified in the year 2023. Recognized as a pioneering institute, PDUNIPPD is dedicated to preparing students for careers in healthcare and rehabilitation, emphasizing empowerment and providing comprehensive rehabilitation treatment to individuals with disabilities.

Expressing pride in the achievements, Minister Bhoumik highlighted the significant role of ‘Nari Shakti’ (Women Power) in these fields, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She emphasized that the institute’s mission embodies the Prime Minister’s belief that serving humanity is akin to serving God.

The Minister conveyed her best wishes to the Director of PDUNIPPD, Dr. Jitender Sharma, and his team for the successful organization of the convocation ceremony.

In a parallel engagement, Minister Bhoumik also participated in the convocation ceremony of the National Board of Examination in Rehabilitation (NBER), an adjunct body of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) under DEPwD, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The ceremony took place at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.

Bhoumik expressed her warm congratulations to the 18 national toppers of Rehabilitation (Certificate & Diploma) Courses. Notably, she highlighted that 17 out of the 18 national toppers were women, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on ‘Nari-Shakti’ (Women Empowerment).

The Minister extended her gratitude to Secretary DEPwD, Rajesh Aggarwal, Chairperson RCI, Dr. Sharajeet Kaur, and the entire team of RCI for the successful organization of the National Convocation Ceremony. The events underscored the government’s commitment to promoting education, empowerment, and inclusivity in the field of disabilities and rehabilitation.
