Agartala, 16th August 2025:   A deeply disturbing case of alleged child abuse has shaken the residents of Bhuiyanpara No. 4 ward in Deoracherra ADC Village under Kailashahar police station. A three-year-old girl was reportedly burned with a hot iron by her mother Shilpi Bhuiyan late last night prompting widespread condemnation and calls for intervention.

Locals said that Shilpi Bhuiyan known in the area for her frequent alcohol consumption and violent behavior allegedly heated an iron and pressed it against her daughter’s hand causing severe burns. Neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing the child’s screams and intervened to prevent further harm.

Residents claim this is not the first time Shilpi Bhuiyan has inflicted harm on her child or engaged in violent behavior toward her husband Subal Bhuiyan. “We’ve seen this happen before. This time, it’s beyond tolerable. She must be removed from the area,” said one neighbor.

The incident has sparked outrage with many questioning the safety of children in such environments and the broader societal failure to protect vulnerable lives.

When confronted, Shilpi Bhuiyan reportedly justified her actions by accusing her daughter of stealing money. In a chilling admission, she claimed to have “buried” the child as punishment. However, her husband Subal Bhuiyan refuted the claim stating he was not home during the incident and learned of it from neighbors. He clarified that the child had merely collected money from the house and handed it to him upon his return.

Subal Bhuiyan also confirmed that similar incidents had taken place in the past and expressed his intention to file a formal complaint against his wife.
