MoU signed between NESAC and DSTE for early warning system

Agartala, July 25, 2022: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the department of Science, Technology and Environment of the Government of Tripura and North Eastern Space Applications Centre, department of Space of the Government of India at Pragna Bhavan here on Monday.

This MoU has been signed between DSTE and NESAC for collaboration in extensive utilizations of Space Technology for development planning in various sectors in Tripura. On behalf of NESAC, Director SP Agarwal and Secretary of DSTE, Pradip Kumar Chakraborty signed the MoU.

Speaking to reporters here, Chakraborty said “There are various kinds of expertise of the NESAC and those expertise would be applied at regional level and among them, some technology would be transferred to this state. This will strengthen the technology relationship and build up coordination. In Tripura, there various resources related to land, forest resources, disaster management related resources like rivers and streams which connects to flooding, earthquake calamity, etc. With the help of NESAC, mapping can be done through remote sensing and early warning system can also be developed.”

“Currently, several projects have been proposed while one ‘telemedicine’ have been suspended for the time being. All these projects would be completed within few years while two are on the edge of completion and another one is going on. Rest of the projects will be expedited as the MoU has been signed today. We are hopeful that we can use Space Technology and fasten the development speed of the state”, he added.
