MP Kriti Devi Debbarman Discusses Border Security and Welfare Initiatives with BSF

Agartala, 9th November 2024:   Kriti Devi Debbarman, MP, Tripura East, met with Border Security Force officials, including IG Piyush Patel and DIG Shailendra Kumar Sinha, to discuss a range of issues, including efforts to combat drug abuse.

Kriti Devi Debbarman, Member of Parliament for the Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency, held an important meeting today with senior BSF officials at the Frontier Headquarters, BSF, Salbagan, Agartala, Tripura. The meeting focused on various matters related to the welfare of BSF personnel, border security, and the development of local communities in Tripura.

Discussions included the construction of tin sheds and the installation of solar lights for BSF personnel. “The construction of tin sheds along the border to provide essential shelter for BSF soldiers during the monsoon season was discussed. Additionally, the installation of solar lights to improve security operations and ease the challenges faced by personnel was highlighted as a priority.”

The MP and BSF officials also explored the possibility of organizing health camps for local civilians, especially in remote border areas, with the support of BSF. Debbarman and BSF officials deliberated on awareness camps to encourage local youths to join national security forces.

The issue of drug trafficking across the border was raised as a growing concern. Smt. Debbarman and BSF officials reviewed ongoing efforts and strategies to curb drug abuse, including strengthening surveillance and enhancing coordination between BSF and local authorities. As part of broader efforts to build better relations with the local population, the BSF proposed conducting motivational sessions in schools to inspire young people, raise awareness about national security, and encourage a spirit of patriotism and responsibility.

In the meeting, Kriti Devi Debbarman expressed her strong support for these initiatives and assured BSF officials of her continued commitment to addressing the needs of both security personnel and local communities. She emphasized the importance of a cooperative approach between the government, BSF, and the people of Tripura in ensuring border security, peace, and development in the region.
