Agartala, 12th February 2026: Northeast India has witnessed remarkable progress in infrastructure under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee during the ongoing discussion on the Union Budget for 2026–27.
Speaking in the Upper House, Bhattacharjee emphasized the unprecedented improvements in rail and road connectivity across the region. He noted that stronger transport links have boosted trade, tourism, and eased travel for ordinary citizens. Addressing concerns over the strategically sensitive “Chicken Neck” corridor, he asserted that India today stands as a stronger nation with a more robust security framework than ever before.
The MP further highlighted Modi’s welfare initiatives, claiming that in the past nine years, 250 million poor families have been lifted out of poverty. Responding to opposition criticism, Bhattacharjee urged detractors to visit Tripura to witness development firsthand. In a pointed remark, he said he was even willing to provide “development spectacles” to help critics see the transformation clearly.
According to Bhattacharjee, the tangible progress achieved under the Modi government offers answers to all questions raised by opponents, underscoring the administration’s commitment to both infrastructure and social welfare.
