Muhuripur Bazar sees renewed development push under BJP-led Panchayat

Agartala, 10th October 2025 :  For the first time since the BJP government assumed power in Tripura, the Muhuripur Gram Panchayat has initiated a series of development projects aimed at beautifying and upgrading the Muhuripur Bazar. The move marks a revival of infrastructure plans that were originally conceived during the Left regime but remained incomplete after the 2018 political shift.

Today, a high-level visit to the market was conducted by Muhuripur Panchayat President Pritish Pal, Jolaibari Panchayat Samiti Chairman Tapas Dutta, BDO Nabbrata Dutta, and local social worker Ashesh baidya, former Mandal President of the Hrishyamukh assembly constituency. The delegation interacted with traders to assess key issues, including poor drainage and the need for new market stalls.

Several initiatives are now underway, including the renovation of old stalls using leftover funds from the agriculture department allocated during the Left era. Drainage construction has also begun, with traders expressing strong support for the efforts led by Pal and Baidya. Many believe that had Pal been in charge since 2018, these improvements would have materialized much earlier.

Chairman Tapas Dutta has also earned praise for his proactive and humane approach to governance. Under his leadership, the Panchayat Samiti is working to ensure uniform development across all gram panchayats. In contrast, former chairman Ravi Namah is criticized for lacking vision in adapting to the region’s evolving needs.

Muhuripur falls under the Hishyamukh assembly constituency, currently represented by CPIM MLA Ashok Mitra. Locals allege that Mitra’s allocation of MLA Development Funds is skewed toward areas with a higher concentration of CPIM voters, leaving other regions underserved. Despite not holding an elected position, Ashesh Baidya continues to play a pivotal role in advancing public welfare through strategic interventions.

The new market stalls are expected to create income opportunities for unemployed youth in the area. In addition to market upgrades, the Panchayat has overseen the construction of new roads and installation of water filters. More paver block roads are slated for development in the coming weeks.

Residents have welcomed the renewed momentum, expressing optimism about the Panchayat’s commitment to building a cleaner and more vibrant Muhuripur. President Pritish Pal has reiterated his vision of transforming the village into a model gram panchayat through sustained development efforts.
