Agartala, 10th October 2025 : A delegation from the Pradesh Congress led by party president Asish Kumar Saha and MLA Sudip Roy Barman visited the residence of Abhirup Debnath this evening to offer condolences following the tragic road accident that claimed the young boy’s life.
Abhirup, son of Abhijit Debnath was fatally injured on Mahashtami night when a speeding Maruti WagonR struck them from behind while they were en route to a relative’s house in Dighalbak. CCTV footage from a nearby wedding hall captured the incident. Both father and son were initially taken to Dharmanagar District Hospital and later shifted to Silchar for advanced treatment. Despite efforts, Abhirup succumbed to his injuries on October 4.
Locals demanded strict punishment for the accused driver Souvik Nath against whom a formal complaint was filed on Nabami. Congress leaders assured the bereaved family of legal support and called for swift action against the perpetrator.
