Agartala, 2nd May 2025:  A high-level delegation including representatives from multiple departments visited Khowai subdivision today to inspect the ongoing water infrastructure projects under the Tripura Urban and Tourism Development Project. The visit was organized at the invitation of Khowai Municipal Council with the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

With a grant of Rs 12.5 crore from ADB, several water projects are currently being executed in Khowai to improve clean drinking water access. Chairperson of Khowai Municipal Council Debasish Nath Sharma led the delegation alongside Chief Engineer of the Water Department, Rajiv Majumdar, and officials from Tunda, R&D, the Water Department, ADB and other agencies.

During the inspection, officials visited key locations, including Puran Bazar DTW and Jibanananda School to assess project progress. Additionally, the delegation individually examined water tanks situated behind Khowai College and the District Hospital to ensure proper distribution.

“The primary objective of these projects is to provide drinking water to every household, right to the very end of the city. We are working tirelessly to make sure there is no shortage of water supply,” said Sharma.

Following the field visits, a detailed discussion was held at the office of the Chairperson of Khowai Pur Parishad. Officials reviewed ongoing challenges and reinforced their commitment to completing the projects efficiently.

“I will personally review the status again after this visit to ensure smooth execution,” Sharma assured.
