Agartala, 27th June 2025: A mysterious fire in the early hours of this morning claimed the life of an elderly woman in Krishnanagar’s Banerjee Para, leaving the locality in deep mourning. The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Bhanumati Acharya, a long-time resident of the area.
According to preliminary reports, the fire broke out in the kitchen of Acharya’s residence while she was reportedly preparing the morning meal. Neighbors were the first to notice the flames and rushed to douse the fire before alerting the authorities.
Responding swiftly to the emergency call, personnel from the local police station and fire brigade arrived at the scene. Upon entering the premises, firefighters discovered Acharya’s charred body lying near the stove. The body was later sent to the hospital for further examination.
Police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze, which remains unclear as of now.
