Mystery Deepens Over Class 10 Student’s Death in Tripura as Family Alleges Murder

Date:

Agartala, 19th July 2026:  The mysterious death of Class 10 student Zubeda Begum from Irani Gram Panchayat in Kailashahar, Unakoti district, has triggered fresh controversy after her family raised serious allegations, questioning the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to family members, Zubeda left home on July 10, saying she was going to school, but did not return by evening. After an extensive search, police recovered her body hanging in a forested area near Hirachhara Tea Garden on July 11. The incident initially appeared to be a case of unnatural death and sent shockwaves across the locality.

However, Zubeda’s father, Barkat Miah, and other family members have alleged that the death was not a suicide but could be a premeditated murder. They claimed that after the body was brought home, they noticed several injury marks on different parts of her body. According to the family, one of her hands appeared to be fractured, while visible injuries were found on her neck, knees, and other parts of her body.

The family’s allegations have gained further attention following the statement of the woman who performed the last rites by bathing the body. She reportedly claimed that she noticed multiple injury marks during the ritual, including what appeared to be a broken hand, cuts on the toes, and bruises on several parts of the body.

Despite these allegations, the police have not yet issued an official statement addressing the family’s claims. The final post-mortem examination report has also not been released, leaving the exact cause of Zubeda’s death unclear.

The case has sparked widespread discussion across Kailashahar subdivision, with local residents and the victim’s family demanding a fair, impartial, and comprehensive investigation. They have urged authorities to ensure that if any criminal involvement is established during the investigation, those responsible are brought to justice.

All eyes are now on the ongoing police investigation and the final forensic and post-mortem reports, which are expected to provide greater clarity on the circumstances surrounding Zubeda Begum’s death.
