Agartala, 6th November 2026 : In an inspiring display of humanity and compassion, workers and bus owners at Agartala’s Nagerjala Bus Stand came forward to help a financially struggling student who lost Rs 15,800, which she had painstakingly saved to pay her college semester fees.
The student, identified as Mina Jamatia, a resident of Amarpur, was travelling to Agartala on her way to pay her semester fees at Kazi Nazrul Islam College in West Bengal when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Coming from an economically disadvantaged family, Mina had managed to arrange the money through considerable hardship. She reportedly sold the poultry she had been raising at home to collect Rs 15,800, of which Rs 15,500 was meant for her college fees.
According to the information available, while travelling by bus, Mina opened her bag to pay the fare when the conductor asked for it near Agartala University. However, after reaching Nagerjala Bus Stand, she discovered that the pouch containing the money was missing.
The loss left her devastated, as the amount represented the result of her hard work and sacrifice. With her semester fees due, she was left uncertain about how she would continue her higher education.
In desperation, Mina approached representatives of the workers and bus owners at Nagerjala Bus Stand and narrated her ordeal. Deeply moved by her circumstances, they decided to extend a helping hand rather than leave the student to face the crisis alone.
The workers and bus owners collectively contributed money among themselves and handed over an amount sufficient to cover her college semester fees along with other essential expenses.
The timely assistance brought considerable relief to Mina, who was reportedly overwhelmed by the unexpected support she received from people who had no personal connection with her.
The incident has highlighted the compassionate side of society, demonstrating how a collective gesture of kindness can make a significant difference in someone’s life. At a time when the loss of her hard-earned savings threatened to disrupt her education, the Nagerjala bus community stepped forward to ensure that financial hardship did not become an obstacle to her academic aspirations.
