Agartala, May 19, 2023: The residents of Phulkumari area have been bitterly disturbed by the crisis of drinking water in various areas of Canal Chowmuhani for a long time in Udaipur sub-division.
Complaints were made to the Water Resources Department many times and the department did not come forward to solve the problem. As a result, the women’s force staged a road blockade in Udaipur-Sabroom national highway at Phulkumari area demanding drinking water on Friday.
Although the road blockade continued for a long time, none of the officers of the DWS department were found to arrive at the spot. After getting the news of the road blockade, some leaders of the ruling party along with the area Pradhan rushed to the scene of the incident.
Later, the road blockade was lifted when a promise was made to supply water through vehicles to the area. Local residents said that if water is not given as promised, then people will join the road blockade again.As a result of the road blockade, many vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road.
